Your Politics Are Showing
I don’t know why Van Halen and Heart are being so pissy. You would think they’d enjoy some of the attention their music would get, especially since after dumping David Lee Roth everything VH did sucked. Really, Ed, be grateful that anyone wants to listen to that Hagar shit.
And as for Heart, well, I’m not one to offer up anything positive, as I’ve never liked them or their music. Wannabe Led Zeppelin, that’s all they were, who sold out in the 80’s to maintain some kind of popularity.
Perhaps they think it’s “kewl” that Bruce Springsteen jumped all over President Reagan for using “Born In The USA” and that, therefore, no GOP candidate should be able to use any popular music.
But let’s face it, with all that’s going on in this world, these people are worried about music? I guess it all comes down to one word, greed.
UPDATE: Found this blog post, and it includes a quote from Hagar:
“When I wrote the lyrics to ‘Right Now’, I intended them to inspire people to not sit around and wait for something they believed in but to go out and get it, to make a change however they needed to,” he said in a statement. “Whether it was McCain who used the song or if Obama had chosen to use the song, with the current political climate, the lyrics still have the same meaning, and we all need to do something to make a difference, every action counts.
